Philosophy and Leit Motiv

There are several  principles and  a philosophy that have driven this musical institution for over five decades, its most striking features and its current artistic project for the medium and long term. In other words, everything that continues to make the Orchestra one of a kind, with a model that dates back to the late 1940s, when it became the yardstick for all the youth orchestras that now exist all over the world.

Universality and artistic excellence are its permanent aspirations. Obviously, such universality applies not only to geography or nationality, but also to global solidarity for the development of education, specifically in music.

The Orchestra of the 21st century

The new JMWO will focus on contemporary classical music of the 20th and 21st centuries and encourage interactions between other musical forms and traditions such as, ethnic, jazz or contemporary non-classical music.

It also aims at promoting a fresh approach to the classical repertoire, including the development of stage techniques with the use of new technologies.

the JMWO aspires to, but with not drama but musical interpretation as its supportive, universal starting point from which to involve or not other performing arts, such as dance, cinema, as well as new and traditional forms of visual art.

These are just some of the principles that guide us, that distinguish us from many other youth orchestras throughout the world and bring us closer to all those who comprehend that art cannot exist without a real commitment to change and improve;  indeed, without education there can be no art.
